We enjoy our sporting events and it’s even cooler when we can see international events. As we planned this trip, we made a point to be in Barcelona to catch an FC Barcelona game. This is our second European football game, in 2018 we saw a Bundesliga game in Berlin.

To get to the game, Julie and I took the Metro out to the FC Barcelona match against Getafe CF at Camp Nou.  Barcelona won 2-0 with Arturo Vidal scoring the first goal of the game.  Camp Nou is one of the largest stadiums in Europe with a capacity of more than 99,000, it was built in 1957 and has been host to many concerts throughout the years including Bruce Springsteen and U2.

FC Barcelona was playing the final game of the season in the La Liga. The week before the team lost in the semifinals of the Champions League so the stadium was not quite full.  That being said the crowd in the upper deck was certainly into the match.

Julie and I checked out the area outside Camp Nou where food, beer and merchandise is sold.  There were very few concessions inside the stadium and only non-alcoholic beer.  This contrasted with the experience we had in Berlin where there was ample food and beverages inside the stadium.  The space also had a large FC Barcelona team store outside the stadium with just about anything you can imagine.

Barna Brew

Before making it to the game, we hit a brewery along the way, Barna Brew. We snacked on a meat and cheese plate and had a few beers. It was outside of the busier city area and was a nice change from most of the old town/tourist area.
