After arriving in Paris and checking in at the hotel, located near the Arc de Triomphe, we hit the ground running sightseeing in Paris.
The Arc de Triomphe
We walked over to the Arc de Triomphe where they just finished celebrating the anniversary of VE Day. The monument is absolutely beautiful. Pictures don’t do justice of just how large it is and how beautiful the architecture is
.
The Eiffel Tower
Next on the list for sightseeing in Paris was walking over to the Eiffel Tower. We were supposed to meet a group for a skip-the-line access tour at 4:30 and well, we didn’t read the instructions correctly and missed the meeting point and ultimately the tour. (All the crowds and stupid construction didn’t help either.) Oh well. These lovely pictures will have to do.
The Louvre
Next for sightseeing in Paris, we made our way over to The Louvre. Until standing there, I had no idea how sprawling the former palace really is. The architecture is absolutely beautiful. Nik and I knew that we were only stopping there to take exterior pictures and walk around the grounds. We’ll have to make a return visit sometime to explore the art inside.
Also located by The Louvre is the Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel, built between 1806 and 1808 to commemorate Napoleon’s military victories of the previous year.
Le Coq Rico
We ended our first day in Paris with dinner at Le Coq Rico and walking around the 18th arrondissement.
Eiffel thru the trees is a cool shot. That restaurant looks legit.
